Get Real! wrote:It’s what I said at the start… that with Russia now firmly positioned as Turkey’s neighbor we can expect some interesting confrontations.
The Turkish government can make whatever announcements of grandeur they want for domestic consumption but the reality is that they are no military match for Russia.
I foresee Russian jets violating Turkish airspace many times in the coming weeks/months and I don’t ever expect the Turks to react other than bark from a distance… unless of course Erdogan is dumber than we know and opts for an early grave.
Maritime wise… I expect similar incidents to happen as the Syrian port that hosts the Russians will get ever-busier. I think the days when Turkey could send its fishing trawler and supporting navy off the coast of Ayia Napa are over as Russian maritime radar now extends all the way to Cyprus’ beaches and beyond.
Going back to the Syrian question, if the US foolishly chooses to continue funding and supporting terrorism and Turkey conspires with them again via their borders, then Russia has every right to turn Turkey into glass.
Putin will have to make some hard decisions so Turkey would be well advised to go by Russia’s rules here or she could end up being regional collateral damage. Not that anyone in the ME would complain of such an eventuality!
Those who think that NATO membership guarantees Turkey’s safety from Russia will unpleasantly discover that NATO membership means fuck-all to Vladimir Putin when Putin’s ME plans are compromised and he knows that the West will NEVER come to the aid of a Muslim country confronting Russia and risking WWIII.
Erdogan, should henceforth tread VERY carefully because he has invited the bear to move in with him and there's no going back now…
Happy times ahead for Cyprus.
Well then, just keep violating Turkish Airspace and why not even attack the Turkish Military to send a message. See what happens then!
Oh and better still, get in the way of the IAF (which will destroy the Russians alone) and see what happens.
All talk but no action.
