The similarities between the Ukraine and Cyprus are striking so I expect the end result to be somewhat similar with lots of different territories recognized or unrecognized by different entities around the world.

A succession of Ukrainian leaderships has been making the same mistakes that the pre-74 Cypriot leadership was making against a powerful neighbor, and the result is the breakup of the country into smaller disjointed parts.

History just keeps repeating itself in different parts of the world… for it is run by the same humans having the same stupidity.

But at the end of the day it doesn’t matter what “borders” humans draw for they are all temporary, so carve and conquer while you can!

...the "War" is NATO's to win or lose; if anyone's credibility is on the line, it's theirs.

If Cypriots and Ukrainians are to be compared, it is that both have survived as a People for millennia, despite what has happened around them over all this time, a crossroad.

If Turkey and Russia are to be compared under their individual circumstances, is the threat that Cyprus and the Ukraine represent in an alliance (militarily speaking) with their adversaries.

Cyprus and the Ukraine may serve a higher purpose if they represent to the interlocutors, States (representing its Citizens as Individuals, not just as Persons) which as 'honest brokers' facilitate exchange.

For your information in 2014 the vast majority of Ukranians were against joining Nato. The pro -Russia separatist movement was all made of Ukranians as a reaction to the about 30% who wanted to join Nato.
Zelensky should have thought of that before claiming "self determination rights" of joining Nato, while his people are not "a people" anymore.
