Russia launches military manoeuvres in the Mediterranean after warning UK it will defend its borders using ‘all possible means’ following HMS Defender incident

Russia says it may fire on warships after Black Sea incident with U.K. destroyer

Russian defense ministry calls on Pentagon, British navy command to be guided by reason

MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. Russia’s Defense Ministry has called on the Pentagon and the command of the British naval forces "to be guided by reason" when dispatching their warships to the Black Sea, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Friday.

"We call on the Pentagon and the command of the British naval forces, who send their warships to the Black Sea, not to push their luck pandering to the Ukrainian ‘mosquito fleet admirals’ but to be guided by reason instead," he said.

Every forum has it's nutcases (and usually hippies). This one, having a very small active membership, their contribution tends to get amplified beyond significance.

Just a reminder from earlier in this thread of what I mean:

Get Real! wrote:Well it would be nice to see a bunch of nukes landing smack in the center of major shitstain cities of the filthy US… the whole world would fucking rejoice like never before (well minus their partners in crime the hideous war mongering Brits), but I doubt it’ll happen just yet.

:eyecrazy:

Incredible!

Fancy that what is supposedly an intelligent man (he is), is wishing a Nuclear Holocaust on the American People killing half their population and probably making the country unlivable for the remainder.

I can only presume he doesn't mean it. No one can be so mean spirited to wish for a nuclear obliteration of a country.

Wars are fought on a different level at this time. the new theatre of war is in the cyberspace - hacking Governments and Government infrastructure. It's generally not costly to life (but can be), and tghe damage is mostly economic and disruptive.

You can't go in and take a section of the country on a whim, there has to be a reson. Were the Russian speakers in anyway attacked or killed before Russia decided to attack?

That means, the world needs to take half of Turkey and give it to the Kurds!

Does your average republican politician give a shit about their people?

Yes the Republicans do give a shit about their people and about their country.

And they have done nothing to no one to warrant a nuclear holocause against their people or their country.

And be careful what you imbeciles wish for because it's a lot more likely that the minute any nuclear weapons are launched by anyone, they go into Mutually Assured Destruction mode and they have 3500 nuclear warheads to do it with.

America will not be pushing these buttons ever.

The Black Sea Fleet, together with border guards, stopped the violation of the Russian border by the British destroyer Defender at Cape Fiolent.

Precautionary fire was opened, and the Su-24M carried out warning bombing.

As noted by the Russian military, at 11:52 the British ship crossed the Russian border and entered the territorial sea at Cape Fiolent for three kilometers.

He was warned about the use of weapons in the event of a border violation, but the destroyer crew did not react.

At 12:06 and 12:08 the border patrol ship fired warning shots. At 12:19 pm, the Su-24m aircraft performed precautionary bombing (4 OFAB-250) along the course of the defender URO destroyer, the message says.

"At 12:23 pm, by joint actions of the Black Sea Fleet and the Border Service of the FSB of Russia, the destroyer URO Defender left the borders of the territorial sea of the Russian Federation," the department concluded.

Bullshit!

Russia will not be firing on a UK Naval vessel. It's all talk and when it comes down to it they will not be committing an act of war against a NATO country. They are pussies.

Londonrake wrote:Not wishing to get into a prolonged "debate" on the issue but dropping bombs is a pretty provocative thing to do. It's more usual to have a chat on the radio, over a cup of tea - sorta thing. You do get the impression, from events that have occurred in the Black Sea and eastern Ukraine skies over the past 6 years, that the Russian military in Crimea and surrounds are a bunch of ill disciplined cowboys. There lies a path to war of course.

From a diplomatic (not to mention moral) point of view. Russia seized a quite large chunk (Sudentenland) of another country called Ukraine (Czechoslovakia), by military force and then decided to call it part of Mother Russia (Germany). The biggest land grab in Europe since WW2. It's actions were entirely illegal under international law. It now continues military action in Donbas in an effort to foment destabilisation of the country. 14000 fatalities - so far. I don't believe anybody died in the events which precipitated Russia's action. Which was all about Sevastapol of course.

My view? The perception of Barack Obama. IMHO, a man who's principal achievement was advancing his own career with rhetoric but who, with his lack of action in Syria and effective capitulation to Khamenei came to be regarded - quite correctly - as a push over. Biden comes across as deja vu (with early dementia) and strikes me as being on a similar path. Which, given who’s pulling the strings, makes sense.

Then again - anything's better than Trump apparently.

Sorry, yet more "Anti-Russian theatrics" (Baaahhhhhhhh)

Well, that should put a cat among the pigeons.

No you mean more common sense.

Yes I totally agree that push over Obama isn't blameless and yes we have seen another country take a portion of another, and the comparisons to Germany in WW2 are VALID.

Yet, there has been restraint from America which allows the Russians to do more.

This will continue to be the case for a little while longer. Probably till Russia truly oversteps the mark into an eastern European country. But Russia probably already knowswhere that mark is and probably knows better to not overstep it.

Yia. You really need to calm down a bit. X

The RN ship sailed on a well publicised course from Odessa in Ukraine to Georgia. All the talk about bombs and bullets is just bullshit propaganda (Tass FFS  )

The fundamental question is, did the RN transit through what's by international law recognised as Ukrainian waters or did it sail in those seized by Russia, when it illegally invaded and annexed part of that country?

We all know what the end result was in 1938 when similar events brought about by yet another dictator were accepted. We learned a lesson that ultimately cost 50 million lives. The appeasement of dictators doesn't work. They just take it as a sign of weakness and go for bigger stuff.

Next for Putin - the Baltic states? Where a large Russian minority suddenly become subject to attack by fascist governments and are in desperate need of rescuing? Sorry - yet more "anti-Russian theatrics" I'm sure

As far as GR and the US is concerned. The man clearly has mental problems. If there's any doubt, I would be quite happy to post some of his previous efforts to support that. Totally psychologically fucked up
