Any opportunity to put the boot in for any of the countries the US and its allies have deemed to be ‘enemies’, but as you so often do you end up kicking yourself up the arse!
You see, the problem I have with this action by the UK is that there are no EU or UN restrictions on the transportation of oil TO Syria ....... the restrictions are all on oil FROM Syria to the EU! Do you see that subtle difference?
Syria - Financial Regulation 878
Article 3
(a) It shall be prohibited to import crude oil or petroleum products into the Union if they:
(i) originate in Syria; or
(ii) have been exported from Syria;
(b) to purchase crude oil or petroleum products which are located in or which originated in Syria;
(c) to transport crude oil or petroleum products if they originate in Syria, or are being exported from Syria to any other country;
(d) to provide, directly or indirectly, financing or financial assistance, including financial derivatives, as well as insurance and re-insurance, related to the prohibitions set out in points (a), (b) and (c); and
(e) to participate, knowingly and intentionally, in activities whose object or effect is, directly or indirectly, to circumvent the prohibitions in point (a), (b), (c) or (d).

So the reason (excuse) the UK gave to justify the implementation of Washington's instructions is actually invalid! As a result they have made themselves look rather stupid and kicked off Iran’s retaliatory actions.

As always, you rush to defend absolutely anything that comes out of Moscow, Tehran, Beijing, Damascus, Pyongyang. Well, anywhere there’s a resident dictator really.
Oh really? Which one of those is a Dictatorship. Going by the way the US President acts I would have thought he was as big a dictator as any you list! He runs the USA on Presidential Orders and Twitters ..... at least Putin passes his proposals through the Russian Parliament first.
