Russia "Ready To Shoot Down" U.S. Spy Plane Behind Attacks On Airbase, Says Defense Official

A Russian defense official has doubled down on prior claims that the United States was behind a prior massive drone attack against Khmeimim Air Base near Latakia (alternately Hmeimim), which has further come under sporadic waves of attack by small armed drones which have appeared increasingly sophisticated.

Vladimir Shamanov, head of the lower parliamentary house's defense committee and a former airborne troops commander, warned, according to a translation of his Tuesday statement by Russian Market:

In case of another U.S. drone attack on Russian Military Base in Syria, Russia is ready to shoot-down that plane.

The threat was made against an American spy plane possibly being in the area near Syria to coordinate any future attack. Last week the Kremlin said, based on new intelligence provided by the Russian defense ministry, that a major attack on Khmeimim last January was coordinated by a US P-8 Poseidon surveillance plane.

Oh this is friggin hilarious!

Firstly, doubt very much they US Drones. The US would not do that.

It was probably Israel and Pootin once again is having a hissy fit meltdown making threats to shoot down US Planes. He probably means US Drones that don't have a pilot and are dirt cheap and expendable anyway.

Just another example that Pootin hasn't got what it takes and is scared of the Israelis. Plus I would like to see Pootin try to shoot down an Israeli Jet let alone a US Jet because that might draw a US response which will not be very good for Pootin.

Pootin is beginning to sound like a class A clown. He wants the world to think he is a tough guy and a player in the Middle East, but the Israelis have him by the short and curlies. Snap!

If these threats were serious, they wouldn't be in such a stupid language by a "Kremlin Official". Pootin will just come out and address the Nation.

But he won't because he doesn't want to look like a fool when he doesn't do it so instead we get this "Double Down" nonsense for Russian Domestic Consumption more-so than anything else.

The reason WHY Syria is being attacked is because of Hezbollah/Iran.

Pootin knows that. If he wants the Israeli attacks to stop, then he has to rid Syria of Hezbollah and Iran. He is starting to understand this and is working on just that.

And when were you asll when Hezbollah attacked an Israeli Garrison in the Golan Heights? That was ok was it? mmmm

Pootin knows what he must do. Israel and US don't care about Russia or Pootin but Hezbollah is non negotiable.

It's Pootin. It's always been Pootin and it will always stay Pootin.

I don't live in Russia and therefore I can call Pootin whatever I like. In fact, I can call the Australian PM whatever I like too because I live in a democratic country with free speech and protections!

So unless Australia has a sudden influx of Russian belltower tourists, we got nothing to worry about here. Sta anathema tous!

With all those US ships in the area why would the Iranians chose a Japanese vessel? Surely if it was Iran the US will punish them anyway so a US aircraft carrier would have been a far more satisfying target in that case>

Iran, Russia, and Turkey, as it is, all three must be confronted if there is conflict militarily.

It is why Cypriots have been put in a position where they must pick a side. It appears to be the reason Turkey will aim her S-400s southward. It is as much about the balance of power, as it is the crisis that looms over the political leadership of these three countries; that they are facing internally, having expansionist plans. No doubt, their adversaries will take advantage of this weakness, one hopes without compromising the Universal Principals and the Rule of Law they are bound to respect.
