Fama was expelled from its shipyard in Famagusta in 1974. The people who took over the shipyard, that is the usurpers of the GC owned shipyard, now have gone into partnership with the legitimate owners to share clients and profits.

The Fama people are fourth generation shipwrights, what knowledge and traditional skills do the TC "managers" bring to the partnership? Hard to tell.

There is a message in this story. The same message sent by the minaret stuck on a centuries old church that the minaret builders "took" and now fool themselves that the taking somehow equates with creating. The church I had in mind is the catholic cathedral in old Famagusta, not Agia Sofia.

Quite ironic that this man can put aside his pride because he as a Cypriot must compete, and it is fortunate that the yard in Famagusta understands the dynamics of the competition they are facing.

Now, there is a chance for these shipyards to grow, whatever the political solution. As Cypriots, they have greatly increased the credibility of their lot, and under this leadership they are likely to thrive.

...what surprises me is the lack of political interference; shipbuilding is less important than soccer, i guess.

here are some real cypriots promoting peace. i wonder if the gcs are making any effort what s ever for peace. i get a feeling they are applying the "armut piş ağzıma dϋş" principle of pear eating practiced by lazy bafidis.
