No Max, my point is that these are not Economic refugees and that they have just as much right to seek asylum in Cyprus as any other signatory State to the 1951 UNHCR Convention.

Also, my point is that Cypriots are much more compassionate people that any American or Australian is and would welcome ANY Syrian Refugee who makes a legitimate claim for asylum in the RoC!

This despite the fact that the Americans are the biggest contributor of aid by a longshot! DANG Amerikanodaktilo!

* Well, the media reports it as a migrant crisis.
* If they were refugees, they would have to prove that on a case by case basis.
* They are being smuggled in by human traffickers on a mass organized scale.
* Not all are Syrian.
* They are migrating to countries with the most benefits.
* They will disrupt social service and scuffle with security personal or the authorities until the above happens.
* They have not been vetted, processed or registered and they refuse to be. So far.
* They will demand work, social benefits a better way of life and rights.

on a whole, they sound more like illegal immigrants to me. Some legitimate cases might be there though.

Where? You mean to say that the media is not reporting this as a humanitarian refugee crisis? Really?

Why those dirty rotten scoundrels!

Even Murdoch is reporting this as a Humanitarian Crisis and we all know he is right!

Now switch off and say good night!

Its the West they yearn for, I wonder why !
By the way, GCs are not Muslims so highly unlikely they would settle in a Muslim country .

Paphitis]that is not the UAE I know. They will take some I am 100% of that and they will take a lot more than 400.

BTW, many Cypriots have settled in UAE, QATAR and even Saudi Arabia and have jobs there and will probably stay there for years.

And BTW, it is much better living in these Muslim States than Cyprus.[/quote]

You wont catch me going anywhere near these countries mate, Paradise for me is Cyprus and the West.

Oh yeh, as if I had to leave Australia for economic reasons.

Silly numpty! That is the last time I fix all your quotes!

You see, this crisis is just a Political Football to some of you.

Get Real, Garavnos, Miltiades, and Maximus - you should all hang your heads in shame.

Thank heavens that the vast majority of Cypriots are not like you at all, so much so I now question your Cypriotness because Cypriots are a compassionate people, even more compassionate than Americans or Australians are. Oh yes, i admit it!

now, do the right thing and switch off your computers before you bring more shame to Cyprus on the interwebs!

You are talking sh-t. In all my posts so far, about 2 lines made, reference to what in my opinion is the root of this conflict and situation. I only mentioned the US in part. If you disagree, no problem. we are not debating that are we?

But, you keep digging this up. YOU keep banging on about it. I never alluded to ASSAD being a hero either. So just stop talking Sh-t.

No one here has said they are not willing to help them. Difference in how may exist, Differences in perceptions may be there but you have no moral high ground to take Paphitis. None.

Paphitis is a very naïve individual, the fact of the matter is that he has, probably, taken a lucrative job in the ME therefore ulterior motives force him or rather dictate that he praises these countries, as indeed he does. He says life in these muslim countries is ...better than Cyprus. Well mate, pigs bullocks I say.
If you had a million quid mate would you go there? Not on your life.you couldn't make this much in Australia so you have fallen in love with third world countries. Not for me, I like my women looking like women not fucking vrikolalkes !! I also like my wine and my bacon

You eluded to US and British interference in Syria! When was this Max? Give me the evidence that the USA and UK are responsible for the crisis in Syria after all the bullshit Assad has been pulling off!

Sorry, but not even the US of fucking A is capable of this if everyone was truly happy and content under the Assad regime max.

Not everyone was happy though were they? There are millions of unrecognized Syrians (The vast majority) who would only be too happy to shove a broom stick up his arse!

Can you blame them Max? Now I do not condone that behavior, but just remember the fact that there are millions of Syrians who would love to rip his head off.

Now, I hated Christofias but not once would I even dream of ripping his head off no matter how much of a Vosko he was!

The moral high ground here Max (which I do not claim) is actually recognizing the facts on the ground in Syria and understanding what has created this crisis. You can say how much you feel sorry for the Syrian Refugees until the cows come home (and I really do feel sorry for them) but they are all hollow words unless spoken by individuals who are actually assisting with the humanitarian aid to these people in Turkey and Greece, or you take it upon yourself to lobby your local politicians to get your country to do more.

Some one who makes the absurd claim that these people are economic refugees does not v=give 2 hoots about the refugees at all.

Yeh I praise these countries because they got their shit together!

I am not short of a quid and yes I do have a million quid and more and am probably wealthier than you but I still chose to go because I got plans and want to achieve a few things and then hang my hat when the time comes. Sometimes its not about money either, but achievements and the ME offers a lot of opportunity.

In fact, I don't know many poor Westerners in these countries either. And yes, there are quite a few Cypriots here and all of them are happy and we do all stick together and are particularly closely knit and supportive of each other.

There's lots here in your reply that should be left to another thread and these threads exist.

They (those who have paid smugglers to come to Europe) are now economic migrants in my opinion, entering Europe illegally. This in no way shape or form equates to not giving two hoots about refugees.

Well lucky for you that you're entitled to your opinion, no matter how wrong you are, and insensitive (and no I do not claim the high horse) - I just know shit when I see it.
