America is looking for regime change or in other words, a puppet in Syria. Russia, having already lost most of the Ukraine as an ally and friendly country, can potentially lose Syria now. America is threatening Russia's interests here, not the other way around.

ISIS's agenda is also more in line with America's than it is with Russia's or Assad's or the Syrian people.
