In a few month I move to Cyprus (Paphos).
After searching in the internet for a used car in Cyprus I decided to buy a new one, because the market is not that big
and with a new one, I know what I get.
So I contacted some car companies and after a while I decided for the new Ford C-Max.
The price as listed is 20000 Euro. I don't have a car to trade-in.
1. What do you think (know)? How much discount is possible?
2. I reed about the gandirect insurance. Any other insurance someone can recommend.
3. What is the procedure to get the car on the road? (tax, insurance, number plate)

Well, I'm pretty new in this board and so I have to introduce myself a little bit.
My name is Dieter I'm 53 years old and a german national.
Since over 7 years I stay in Thailand but now it is time to change, that's why I move to Cyprus.
Cyprus I know since the mid 80th from many holidays, shorter and longer ones.
Sorry for my poor english, my school days are long time ago and most of my english is from travelling
and not everyone in other countries speak a perfect english. So their mistakes became my mistakes.
Or should i write faults?

You can bargain the price of the car. If 20.000 was the first price they gave you then you can probably get it for around 19.000. I am using gandirect, it is usually the cheapest. When you buy a car the price usually includes the road tax for the first year and the number plate. All you need is to have insurance and a driving license... your German license should be ok. That was very helpful for the negotiations.
5% is ok and in the range I expected, or better: the discount I hoped for.
At next I will contact gandirect for a quote and if everything work well,
then I don't need to rent a car after my arrival and I can take my own car
from the beginning.
The german license should be ok, because it is in the same style as all new european licenses are.
........and I don't want to extend the validity of my thai drivers license, because this cost me a full day at the transportation office.
