FFS self defence in 2500 miles away. If you are not welcome there choose another route ffs.
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak tells Parliament the latest US-UK strikes in Houthis in Yemen were "self defence"

The Houthis are but a minority in Yemen, who have by rebellion taken the Capital, and thus created their own regime. Given that the attacks are threatening all ship traffic, (except perhaps, the Chinese), and given the importance of this trade to the rest of the world, it requires actions like those we are witnessing from a broad range of players, beside the coalition, of India, and Japan, as well as France to site a few.
...do you expect such Naval power to be withheld from the Mariners whose life at sea is dangerous enough? Indeed, if the Houthis don't do their homework and continue to shoot (defective) missiles at ships American or otherwise they will find such behaviour will draw even more and conclusive Naval power against them. (They are lucky actually, that all they have done so far is make themselves a nuisance.) Should they show themselves to be a more refined adversary, demonstrating a selectivity of targets and a skilled execution which makes for a very clear diplomatic message (against "Jews"), they may find from such limited strikes a willingness from these adversaries to engage with them alternatively, in conversation.
...let's not forget, the 17% of the world's trade that crosses this straight also represents about half of the world's container traffic; as such it is "self defence", and it has nothing to do with the state of Gaza.
