The 1960 agreement, if that suits you is OK. The UN reported that our casualties were about even by the end of 1964. So the image of the poor innocent unarmed TCs taking the brunt of the fighting is old hat. By 1965 the situation was stable, with the populations separated and after 1968 it was conflict free, with TCs freely circulating throughout the island, while GCs were kept out of the enclaves. Obviously there was enough power on the island to keep the GCs out of the enclaves.
The late president Cleride's uncle lost his way in Nicosia (he came from Agros) and ended up in the enclave in 1967. He was never seen since. One of many such disappearances. Was it "officially" sanctioned? Were the police involved? Does it make a difference?
The point is the demands that make partition the more attractive solution than the one being discussed. We are fast approaching the point when the RoC will realise that an international frontier is preferable to the non solution of the last 40 years. It only takes a simple act of parliament to cede territory to the trunc and be done with the bullshit.
