The British carpet squatters at the alleged British Residents Society (BRS) in the illegal occupied areas of the trashcan have written to his "excellency", a Mr Akinci. They are expressing their widespread concern about the direction of the talks to resolve the problem in Cyprus.
The British squatters are concerned about the security of their interests, particularly with what has been proposed so far regarding the return, exchange or compensation of usurped property, as a result of the illegal Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. “In particular, the structure and role of the proposed property commission is of great concern to the expat community and is, if the rumors are true, likely to lead to considerable unrest and discontent, ” the letter warned. “Can your Excellency explain how the security of such title deeds can be honoured if all inter-communal property disputes in a reunited Cyprus were subject to the judgements of a new island wide Property Commission?”
The British Residents Squatting (BRS) is also asking whether current citizens of the illegal trashcan would become citizens of the Republic of Cyprus.
Given the fact that the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office states on its website that The European Court of Human Rights has ruled in a number of cases that owners of property in northern Cyprus before 1974 continue to be regarded as the legal owners of that property. And that, purchasers could face legal proceedings in the courts of the Republic of Cyprus, as well as attempts to enforce judgements from these courts elsewhere in the EU, including the UK. It also warns of the pitfalls of buying in the trashcan but these immoral greedy wally's still went ahead. Also, most likely knowing full well that they were buying and investing in cheap stolen property as a result of an illegal invasion and ethnic cleansing. With a view to exploit and profit from the situation. The term if its too good to be true, it probably is, comes to mind.
These greedy wally's are contributing to the problem and the sooner they accept their wrongs and losses the faster the island can move forward, in peace.
The full letter was published on a well known english language blog, originating in the trashcan and an article today in the Cyprus mail : http://cyprus-mail.com/2015/08/18/expat ... -property/
