Apple Macbook - best place to buy online

Postby Paphitis » Wed Aug 05, 2015 3:01 am

I need to buy a replacement Macbook. I use to buy from Australian Department Stores, and the prices where not too bad.

I physically can't do that now, and the prices where I am are pretty woeful - probably worse than Cyprus although I wouldn't know.

Is there a good place I can buy from online? Any recommendations?

Also, if I buy offline (from the USA direct), would there be any issues with regard to warranty or will Apple cover me anywhere in the world?

Unless it has changed recently, Apple computers and phones have a one year international warranty. Have a look if Amazon delivers to your country of residence, or even buy from Apple direct. Paying by credit card can give you extra protection in case you do not receive the goods.

Amazon deliver and have good deals to.

But was wondering if Apple would be ok with their 1 year warranty for gear bought from Amazon or would going through Apple direct be a safer option?

I understand what you're saying but I can't see a difference. All Apple care about is if the product is still within the warranty period. The first time you turn your product on and activate it, it sends the serial number information to Apple. That is how your warranty gets registered. With any Apple device you can check if it is under warranty by entering the serial number on their site. The service centre you'd take your laptop to, in many cases is an "authorised repair centre", i.e; they are contracted to perform repairs for Apple, they don't care where the product is from, as long as it is in warranty period. If the price difference is negligible, I'd just buy from Apple direct.

Cheers mate, that is most helpful.

Always been a little iffy about Amazon but will give them a shot.
