Rodos, same dialect, as in most of the Dodekanisa, my other place of origin.

If you had listened to the song you would have heard that very first word in your list, akkanno, being said

"prin empo mes sto spiting tis

poxo mes stin avlin tis

emountaren tziai AKKAN mme

moullin tin dynamin tis"

You need to read some linguistics methinks, cause if you think that dagono, dagano, dakkanno akkanno are different words man you are in some deep confusion.

Protsa, foco, pounia, et al are NOT Cypriot words you burk, they are Italian, remnants from the Venetian times. Or are you goint to tell us now that the Venetians got them from our proud Hirokitian linguistic heritage and took them to Italy!!!!

My father’s eldest brother moved to Rhodes when he married a Rhodes girl so I was later taken there myself in the 70s (to Paradisi to be more specific) and I assure you his wife (a Rhodes native) couldn’t understand a bloody word we were saying.

Big smiles all around but not much was being said… :)

Not understanding you does not explain the lyrics of what is one of the most popular folk songs of the island.

When Greeks warn each other about a person''s mouth being "apopatos" they are using Cypriot? Damn that is uncanny!

And one of the government ministers, Lafazanis, is probably a Cypriot.

So they've pinched Cypriot words and now you want to claim them as Greek? You're just too clever!

Like I said to you from the start Nikitas… “tzilla do amaxoui sou bio tzi” because Greece was non-existent when Cypriots were a nation and had alphabets and betabets and all the other bets you can think of. :)

Translation: "Push your little cartwheel somewhere else where you *may* make a sale but not here!" :)
