Barclays is in the process of closing the bank accounts of residents in Cyprus, one such account holder being me. I find it useful to have a UK bank account, and I have discovered that none of the main UK banks will open an account for non-UK residents. However, it is possible for all residents of Cyprus to open a UK bank account with the UK Bank of Cyprus. I thought this information might be useful to others.

Very useful as long as you don't want to visit a local branch in the UK!
