Postby ausbroker » Mon Dec 19, 2005 12:48 pm

ok guys im new to this forum, and im from australia.
my parents are greek cypriot, and i have spent about 8 years living in cyprus.i went back to australia, saved my money, started my own business, and am now ready to come back to paradise...

there are only a few things stopping me........

firstly me and my 2 brothers wwant to start and import company in cyprus
and also a chain of stores selling these products (which is what we do in australia at the moment}. now the questions i have for everyone (whoever can answer them :P } are as follows

1.where can i find out the rules and regulations for companies in cyprus? are they the same as any commonwealth countries?or are they different now there in europe?

2.what taxes tarrifs do they impose on imported goods from asia?

3.what sort of insurances/ and licensing arrangements are involved in running youre own firm? (eg. public liability}

4.what about wages? how are companies taxed, one rate?is there a high
income earners threshold?

any help would be appreciated
cheers

Hi Savva

I would recommend you contact one of the Accountancy Firms; they will be able to answer these questions - and some you have not thought of asking!

You could try Price Waterhouse Coopers

There is an excellent document at:

www.pwc/cy/eng/ind-sol/publ/pdf/pwc_TFF_05_eng.pdf

which should be a great starting point.

I am thinking of setting up an import business and would like any information going too please. I tried to open the document above but it seems to have moved / or been deleted - any ideas of how to get it back?
Thanks
