It's such a simple idea I can't really reveal any more without giving it away. I'm not up on patent law. How general an idea can be patented? For example, suppose cigarette papers had not been invented. Could I hold the patent for cigarette papers that would cover all forms of manufacture of them, or would I have to patent a specific manufacturing process?

unlikely, as this would be considered as un-innovative enough. Reminds me of a time that someone tried to patent the standard brick, got turfed out.
