It cannot work like in London because in our case the demarcation line is a necessary security provision for one of the communities, or have you forgotten how this BBF thing came about?
So the TC side will want to monitor and control who comes and goes from its areas, especially a port area like Famagusta which is regarded as a vital node. London does not have such worries.
There are also economic and environmental factors that the planners are not facing realistically. Take the two river estuaries which now disgorge into the bay north of Famagusta, During the flood season these are mosquito rich areas and presumably sprayed as intensel now as they were pre 1974 to prevent a return of malaria. These plans call for a nature reserve in this area. Would the TCs living nearby accept this risk?
In the south they call for the retreat of the hotel zone from the beach front so the seaward area will gain what they term "depth" with parks and cycleways etc. Considering that the hotels are the moneymakers, and that hefty compensation will have to be found to carry out compulsory purchases, the rate payers might have some comment to make about the plan.
Personally I would love to have a "linear" seaside park to walk and cycle in, but others might have different views.
