Look Everyone any sort of actions like THIS FOLLOWING AKINCI AND ANASTIADES MEETINGS be it ROC with ISRAEL OR TURKEY NEED TO HALT. These are times when you most need to demonstrate that you can take rationale actions and not be easily provoked. Both akinci and ANASTIADES need to show that issues like this may arise but their vision must not be altered by provocations if that is the motive.

... and there's a Turkish Military Exercise planned for off-shore Occupied Famagusta starting tomorrow.

These aren't helpful developments.

You are absolutely right of course but we have to ask why Turkey has taken this action at such a sensitive stage in the peace process, is it just chest beating or is it saying "we are ready to scupper the talks if we don't like what we hear". My point is, who will Ankinci blame if the talks founder, Turkey or the ROC.

Anastiades could outwit Turkey if he ignores an initial provocation and carries on negotiating until excessive and unreasonable demands from the mainland bring the talks to a halt. There are circumstances whereby Ankinci could be tempted to break with the motherland and the international community would have little choice but to support him.

We have always known that Turkey has been responsible for the 41 year impasse, now it's just possible that two leaders could put the interests of Cypriots first rather than one of the so-called motherlands.

The ship is keeping out of the Cypriot EEZ, which is one important detail. The second is that its appearance has more to do with internal Turkish politics and the need for flag waving at a time when Erdo and Davut are trying to get a functional government together. The nationalist block is a potentical partner.
