I read somewhere that the worlds busiest McDonald's is in Central Moscow, well, the one in Minsk is certainly a very busy outlet evidenced by my 20 minute wait to get a meal for my other third yesterday lunch.

This morning after doing a little sightseeing, admiring the absolute cleanliness of the pavements, the orderly and obedient driving, the magnificent architecture of the city basking in sunshine with temperature in the mid twenties, sunrise by the way is at 5am !!

I arrived here on Sunday for a few days, flying back tonight, I have come to know Minsk, the capital ,quite well and take long strolls right across the city , safety is beyond question, I have never encountered even the slightest incident, barring the one when I stupidly crossed the road while the pedestrian lights were red...

Killing a little time this morning, I crossed over to McDonald's and sat on the spotlessly clean benches opposite.

I thought I will do a little research so at 9.50am I begun ,,,,counting the number of people entering the unit, only breakfasts apparently are served at this time. By 10.10 I had counted 67 entries into the unit, That equates to about 200 people an hour !!!

Lunchtime I should think this number increases tenfold!!

America has most certainly conquered E.Europe with no guns no tanks, no fighter planes, just McDonald's and Coke Cola !!!

Junk food will always remain junk food.Every time I tasted them I got a stomachache...

On a side note these Franchise business seem to be the new fashion everywhere.Everyone who doesn't know what to do with his money sets up a franchise restaurant. Thinks it's risk free business. Yet most of them they are so stripped from profit a lot of people regretted it in Cyprus

the reason why mcd tastes so good is when the meet arrives at the factory in cardboard boxes they all go in the mincing machine

Junk food or not you can not take it away from this fast food chain with some 35000 outlets in 119 countries !! Its an amazing business that has captured the tastes of millions of people worldwide. Apparently some 68 million people worldwide eat Mcdonald's every day !!

When in Cyprus I take my grandchildren to the one in Limassol, the kids have a great time playing in the carefully planned indoor games, the place seems to attract young and old, many children have their birthday parties there too.
I take my hat out to this global food chain.

Flew back last evening via Kiev in Ukraine arriving mid evening at the ...cosmopolitan city of London, had a brillaint few days with temperatures higher than those of Limassol.

Back to work now until my next trip to Paradise island, none other than Cyprus, although a very good friend of mine, a T/C by the name of ...John - Hasan is his real name- the image of Joe Pesci and a fantastic charachter, wants to accompany me to Belarus on my next visit, he just adores the ...natural elements in such abundance in this country. I promised to take him along late June.

McDonald's does taste great. There is no denying it.

Yes it is fast and quite cheap, so as a business, they are very clever and are providing the marketplace with something it requires and needs. Hence it's overall global success.

Having said that, it's not something anyone should eat everyday, because its probably not very good for you. As they say, everything in a little moderation.

And it is fantastic for kids. No denying that.

Let's face it. What do they mainly sell? Hamburgers.

Some of their Hamburgers are well made, and the staff are trained to maintain strict hygiene standards. In Australia, they sell Hamburgers which advertise 100% Angus Beef. Now Australian Angus Beef is famed as being the top cut. You pay more, but the meat is 100% Australian Angus Beef.

I seriously doubt a family run Burger outlet will be selling Angus Beef.

It costs about €20/kg.

They are alright if you have had some roo.

With roo, you need a lot of preparation. You need to marinate the meat and cook it at the right temperature, otherwise its too tough and dry and not as good as Beef or Lamb. If you get it right, it's actually quite good.

The best meat I have ever tasted as in ever in my entire life, was EMU meat cooked by Aboriginal Elders in the outback (long story) as KLEFTIKO.

I wish I could have some more of that.
