Lordo in his fury sometimes is revealing:
"destroy the republic and join it with greace" when what what in fact happened is that Turkey destroyed the republic and joined part of it with Turkey!!!
It may be beyond the likes of Lordo to understand, this lack of political maturity will be a major obstacle to the implementation of any agreement. For one simple reason, one region in this BBF thing will be able to operate in the EU framework and the other one will be lagging behind due to its unpreparedness.
The GCs managed to mature and overcome the 1974 national disaster and reach the EU imposed standards of membership in one generation. The usual TC response is that GCs did this with some mysterious outside help, in an attempt to belittle what objectively is a huge accomplishment. The same dismissive attitude is evident in mainland Greek thinking, that Cyprus succeeds because the British taught the Cypriots the secret of good administration etc. Which of course does not explain the ineptness of the Greek system.
Recently we had another test. Cyprus along with several other EU nations got into financial difficulties. Cyprus will be through by November, ahead of other nations and it will do it with no internal strife and conflict as in Spain or Greece.
Imagine BBF with the likes of Lordo on one side belittling the efforts of the other side while constantly demanding more effort inorder to make the thing work.
