Copper and Gold

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Copper and Gold

Postby Nikitas » Thu May 28, 2015 5:52 pm

According to press reports today May 28, there are exploitable gold and copper deposits around occupied Lefka.

So, are we going to be offered an "equitable" share of these resources along lines similar to those put forth for the natural gas finds in the south?

I am impatient to hear the offers.

The gold/copper deposits around Lefke were depleted long ago. I cannot find any reference this within the TC press.

We need to sign on the dotted line but the gas is subject to "equitable" sharing NOW. Typical.

The reports re the ore estimates were in Yeni Duzen. They put the copper deposits close to 3 million tons.

no i never said that. i said you would never get it out unless you sign. on land it is another matter. in the sea within your 3 mile limit the same but outside is a different matter.

thats at 3,635 pounds per tonne makes it just over 16 bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbillion pounds worth. take away 200 million needed to clean it and i suspect this will leave us more than the gas leaves you. the question is should we share or not, its only fair innit. as the federal is 50:50 perhaps the resources should be 50:50 too. Only just saying what is logical.

does anybody know how much gold reserve there is? halil?

On land it is different, it would be!!!! So we share the marine resources of the south but need to make a special deal for mining resources in the north. I often wonder if people that express these opinion think of how they are perceived by others.

I love the translation of "equitable" to a 50-50 share, look up the word equitable, even Erdo was careful to stress the difference between "equitable" and "equal".

By the way, Cyprus has a 12 mile limit, and the EEZ is an extension of a state's territorial rights to the resources in the sea while leaving the rights of passage free. Legally there is nothing "different" about marine or land territorial rights.

Good that the copper is so valuable, you can keep the copper and let us worry about the gas. Open cast mining is so pretty, you will enhance the beauty of the landscape too.

you can keep the copper

What you mean is that they can STEAL the copper. The north part of Cyprus is illegally occupied, it doesn't belong to them. Any agreement on sharing should be 82% - 18%... and that should include land, coastline, gas, power and everything else.
