Missing Woman - Omodhos area

Postby Baggieboy1 » Fri May 22, 2015 9:29 pm

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but could anyone particularly in the Pafos area be on the lookout for this woman. She has been missing for two days now. http://cyprus-mail.com/2015/05/21/briti ... in-omodos/

There is also a facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/missingpauline

I'm not associated in any way, but thought I'd try and spread the word.

Kind regards,

Richie.

Yes, good point, was just repeating her family's request - possibly as she is staying in a hotel in Pafos. Still no news on her I'm afraid. Possible sightings in Episkopi too.

It seems that she has been found. Sketchy details, but she is injured, but OK, and was found in a village between Omodhos and Limassol. Well done to whoever found her and raised the alarm.

Very sad.

It's easy to be harsh with the relatives that made the decision to leave this woman behind, alone. But I also know how hard it is to take away all decision-making from people suffering with dementia and sometimes you are forced to take a chance and leave them have some freedom. Unfortunately, this did not work out for the best for this lady. Long term, it could be a blessing in disguise for all concerned - although at 64 y.o. she was far too young - For now, I wish the family peace.

That is an awful disease. Bloody awful and so common.

I fear this disease more than anything. I hate the way sufferers are treated in the Western World as well. So disrespectful and inhuman in my opinion. Talking from some experience unfortunately. And I don't have any faith in the care provided by the authorities.

Which of course has made me think about a few things.

" That is an awful disease. Bloody awful and so common."
It was way back in 1963 when I met for the first time a young man, a couple of years older than my self, I was 17 at the time and used to breakfast in a Cafe near my home in South London owned by a Greek Cypriot.

A handsome young man built like a tank, vey friendly and full of jokes, taking the mickey of my long hair in a freindly sort of way.

A few Sundays later I was taken aback when this young man was introduced to my sister by the Cafe owner. They got married soon afterwards, all of us liked this young man immensely, a jovial charachter as well as being originaly from a small village near mine in Paphos.

He wasnt just a brother in law but a real mate, we worked together for years until his return in Cyprus in the late 80s. He loved his drink too so we were ....made for each other.

A few years back we noticed that "C " was becoming forgetfull soon after my sisters, his wife, death due to cancer. He was devastated as indeed the entire family.

They only had one daughter but she gave them 4 grandchildren.

I begun noticing Cs lapse of memory, the whole family had also noticed, alas he was soon diagnosed with dimentia.

On recent visits I would always call C , he always recognized my voice on the phone , a familiar sound stretching back more than 50 years, but just could not remember my name, I would give him 3 or 4 different names but on mentioning J he would joyfully recall my name.

I always see him when in Cyprus, he has no problem remembering who Im but remembering my name is a task beyond him. We were so close and yet he forgets my name, there again he only has one daughter and he forgets hers too.

A dreadful disease for which as yet there is no cure.

I joke with C saying things like " ate re me mas peripezis gamoto !! He will get worse in time so they tell us....
