Simple?
Put yourself in the Israeli shoes or the shoes of their commander.
They had a routine Boarding to perform where no one was to be hurt. All of a sudden all hell breaks loose when the Turks take to them with sticks, steel pipes and sharp knives. One soldier was nearly man handled over board.
Assessment: the lives of the soldiers are now at risk.
Result: order given to fire in self Defence.
Aftermath: 9 dead and some casualties.
nine dead your arshole boy, nine unarmed people murdered. its the way the bastards work, murdering innocent civilians.
Unarmed? Are you joking?
A boarding party of 8 boards the vessel. Whether you like it or not, this is a Military Operation and bound by the Geneva Convention. It's not illegal to board the Ship if the country responsible perceives a threat of anything including terrorism.
Yet, no one needed to get hurt if they cooperated with the boarding. The ship would be diverted to Israel, and the aid will eventually be transferred to the UN.
But you did not cooperate. Instead, you attacked the boarding party. You attacked with knives even. Hundreds of passengers attacked 8 Israeli soldiers. Initially, they responded with tear gas and stun grenades. You still attacked them relentlessly.
What would be going through the CO's head? I will tell you. He didn't want to lose any of his boys or explain to their girlfriends he is dead. FACT. They could have been 18 year old conscripts. Kids that have not lived.
Order was given to use any force necessary to defend themselves. It resulted in 9 dead.
That's the way it goes I'm afraid. But all along you didn't believe they will shoot. They held out for so long. Well not for too much longer. The line is crossed once they believe they are going to lose some of their men. So they opened fire and that is the end of that.
Murder? I don't think so. War crime? No way!
Take them to the ICJ and see for yourself.
