How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

No chance of being swamped if your State was only 20 to 22%.

Basically, the police force there will be yours, the jurisdiction is yours, the education and health system all yours.

I couldn't give a stuff if GCs are denied a vote there because frankly I believe only a few thousand will move there.

There are many things which could answer your fears but that is not the issue now is it?

The issue is as I hinted before. Turkey is not interested in any fairness and I do not believe Akinci is either because he is just a puppet.

Therefore, as you were and we as we are. No solution tsie na pate Stan anathema!

Right now we have the RoC and full control over 64%. We don't want to be a downgraded to a community with downgraded HR or be at Turkey's mercy. No way!

Stan anathema na bate tsie FUCK OFF vromoshilli peshevevengides lamogia!

What??? :o :o :o

What's the problem Pyro?

All proposals placed on the table have been disastrous thus far, and completely unworkable, unfair, and comprise elements such as the following plus a lot more:
1) Treaty of Guarantee,
2) skewed democratic rights afforded to communities and not the individual,
3) restrictions on freedom of movement, and
4) veto rights to a small minority etc etc

If this is the country you want to live in, then vote for it. If I was in your shoes, I would be looking to migrate to another country because I will not condemn my family to such inequality, unfairness, restrictions and to something I believe will blow up into some more violence in the future. The violence is inevitable.

But of course, this is what Turkey wants. Don't ever think Turkey cares for the TCs because it doesn't. It wants to destroy Cyprus because it will provide it with another opportunity to intervene on the island and take over permanently. Have you ever wondered why they want a demilitarized Cyprus and maintain the bogus Treaty of Guarantee? Turkey has its long term ambitions.

I see a very dark future ahead.

Of course, Akinci may prove us all wrong and actually be quite reasonable and demand more TC independence from Turkey, and seek a solution based on International norms. I won't hold my breath but it is possible and has never happened in over 40 years. We will know in a few months as things become clearer.

Nice post Paphitis.

I cannot agree any more. You have said it exactly how it is and anyone else who thinks otherwise is condemning us all with their desperation and nativity towards a dark future so they can claim a Turkish badge that says 'Unified Cyprus'.

Sta nathema in a few short years after if that happens.

Tou sas, Tou.

I came across this earlier, in the case of Bosnia the EU played an important role in administration of the new State, could it set a precedent for Cyprus and negate the Turkish demand for guarantees.

On top of this divide, the country is governed by a triangular system which was specified by the Dayton Peace Agreement signed to end the war in 1995. Dayton is also the constitution of Bosnia, being the first and only peace agreement in history also serving as a constitution.

According to the accord, the country is supervised by a High Representative selected by the European Union, who is provided with the highest legislative powers including the dismissal of the president.

And look at how Bosnia has turned out. It has a GDP per capita of less than US$5000 and about 44% unemployment.

They compromised for peace and let outsiders rule them..

are gc children educated by their schools to answer this question for the university entry exam.

Inside this global framework, which is fluid and turbulent, our country remains, always, a special case. It went through a lot during this period, but it seems to have learned little. However, in recent years, it is experiencing a historic moment: the end of delusions.

are you people in any way part of this delusion. have your delusions come to an end.

Bosnia's economic woes are more to do with legacy of communism and recovery from the war than outside rulers. Despite its current problems Cyprus has much better prospects than Bosnia.
