there is nothing to negotiate for governance. equal power at federal level and run your own affairs at the state level. the question is how many gc would want to live in the north and what rights do they have. it will depend on how much territory will be given back. it will not be that different to 2004. they will add part of karpaz to the equation and thats it. i suspect not more then 10,000 will want to return, and will exchange. that wil easy becasue most of the tcs have already exchanged and the deeds are with the trnc. job done real easy. especially with exchange rate of say 1 donum for 5 we will end up with 27% plus some lands in the south that we will be able to rent. i hold no grudges and am prepared to rent my properties to gcs. there is no nationality in money.

it aint rocket science by the end of the year we shall have the agreement.

if you ever find just one GC who will accept a solution in which he would be oblidged to exchange 5 of his donums for 1 of yours then whistle me in Chinese.

To quote Pyro:

"Governance, governance they burst our balls with that.." Amen brother!

And hopefully this time round we are going to get some substantial post meeting briefings and not those idiotic cryptic statements as if these dudes are discussing some gravity defying secret at Ledra Palace or the old Airport.

The gist is territory. More than properties, territory is what counts. I have recorded my concerns. And the reversion of the SBAs to the GC side if the British even hint at leaving. Leaving that one open or even mildly ambiguous is an invitation to friction.

If we are going down this BBF road lets not forget that good fences make good neighbors. And that means clearly defined, easily policed demarcation lines.

Now for some speculation. The TC side will press to retain Morphou, which will have to be offset by major concessions in Mesaoria and Karpasia to maintain some realistic percentages of territory and coastline (unless they have some really strategic thinkers over there who can read maps). There might even be some hints as to how the imported water will make the semi desert of Mesaoria bloom etc and other fairy tales.

My family comes from the Morphou area, but even so, I regard the Xeros coastline and the whole Troodos massif as more important.

Setting aside all the foul abusive language that we are all guilty of as we all allow our emotions run as either we directly lost our homes or some one we know have which we feel their loss . I fall in the bracket where I know some one has lost property's . He had a row of 7 shops which he had built brand new on his parents land by the year 1974 only to loose the whole lot in the famagusta region. He goes there to visit and chats to all the new occupants who tell him about what they lost in the south but all agree they can't practically just move back . New society's and families have settled . They have grandchildren who go to schools etc etc . The list is endless . I am Trying to paint the reality of this not the dreams and aspirations that people have which could be why the agreement never reaches reality and all parties involved would need to be singing from the same sheet. The only genuine guy here is TRUELY Mustafa akinci not only as a politician but as a person who lived his life believing in unity. Its not just words when he speaks he TRUELY believes this . I remember him making speeches about working hand in hand with GC s at a function in London and we literally threw the fruit that was on the table at him as at the time in my young age admitantly I was anti greek but i realised that we are all influenced negatively against each other and we need to make our own judgment based on our own experiences with people hence why now I would have clapped and cheered in support of his speeches. However erdogan is not genuine or the GC leader and we have greece who does not want to get involved that does not help the situation .
