We have not yet got the result for Farage yet, I think he will remain leader but he has promised to resign if not elected. I don't quite understand why voters have turned on the Liberals, they really had no choice but to go in with the Conservatives in 2010, they did have influence on policy, in that sense they "won".

The pundits are already predicting that he will lose. That result is not expected to come until close to noon. I am taking it for granted that he has lost, so we will see.

There is talk that Ed Milliband will shortly announce his resignation.

Bambos Charalambous didn't get in in Enfield Southgate but he increased Labour's share of the vote. Conservative David Burrowes got back in, he is very interested in Cyprus and it's problems - hardly surprising with so many Cypriots in the constituency. A British Cypriot woman stood for election but I can't remember her name or constituency.

He was defeated by a former UKIP deputy leader who turned Conservative - shafted by a former mate!

Sad for Farage! I think Britain needs him.

But nevertheless, I think the result was a just result for Britain and will allow Brits to determine their future relationship with the vile EU! :x

Cameron promised and a promise is a promise! :D

You are entitled to your view from far away down under, but I am in it and I love it. I can live and run my own microbusiness in Cyprus, get on the phone with potential clients all over Europe and pay about the same charge as for a domestic call, quote a price to clients anywhere in the eurozone in the same currency with no currency risk on either side and receive payment with no exchange costs and low transfer fees from one euro account to another. In the long run, this will make Europe, having about the same area as Australia, stronger and richer than if we divide and start squabbling and fighting wars again. It isn't ideal and needs reforming, that's for sure.

Easy to say with hindsight, but there wasn't enough momentum in the voting pattern elsewhere in Kent to get him in. Good riddance to the waster who by his own admission never did a proper days' work in the city and boasted of his twelve-hour boozy lunches. In a way it serves him right, Apparently, the only times he appeared in the constituency were for some carefully staged photo opportunities where minders kept real people away and a few ticket-only meetings from which anybody who expressed any disagreement with him was summarily expelled. He didn't turn up for any of the public debates or do any traditional doorstep canvassing. I hope he lives up to his promise to resign.

yes I am entitled to my opinion and I am closer to the EU than you think and almost in your timezone as a matter of fact.

But nevertheless, the EU has left its legacy in Cyprus and Greece and they will bring Spain, Italy and Portugal to its knees as well.

Then you have the refugee crisis and no country is able to legally deal with it. Being a part of the EU will destroy countries - in fact it already has.

It's interesting how you had a shot at the British Elites, which I agree with, but then are supportive of something even worse than that. The EU is a buearocratic monster only accessible to the elites and the rich and ruling classes and they are crapping all over the poor.

These big blocks are far too big and they will not be looking after you. They will eventually tax you into poverty.

Anyway, I like the Australian way the best. There is no way Australia will sign anything that will crap all over its ability to exercise any control. The Americans are the same as well as the Kiwis. We only want Free Trade Agreements and that is where it ends. But it's a different matter for Germany because they are well and truly in charge and in control.

decades ago, we sent troops over to fight Germany and now they are managing to divide and conquer in an another way. How times change indeed.
