A small step in the right direction.

Filling a ‘visa’ slip will no longer be required by the Turkish Cypriot side at crossing points, it was announced on Friday, as the leaders of the two communities agreed to work “tirelessly” to resolve the island’s division.

The announcement was made after a meeting between President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci.

“Mr. Akinci announced that from tomorrow (Saturday), there will no longer be a requirement to fill a form at the crossing points,” UN Special Adviser Espen Barth Eide said.

My thoughts entirely, my dear Lordo. I hope that one confidence building measure can inspire another, giving rise to a virtuous circle.

...i would like to remind Mr. Akinci, at this moment in time; it is up to him to decide who he is: Turkish, or a "Turk"?

...let us remember that while the Problem divided us, it is the same Problem which is dividing Turkey, with its "Turks".

He may find a welcoming partner, toward this end, as Statesmen, as Cypriots, if the two A's dare this time around to end the Problem with Cypriots in mind, not just, those "Turkish", as opposed to those not "Turkish". And for Turkey, as well as the rest of the region, hope, something held in high esteem because it can be emulated.

...hi Tim, and bill, Kimon, Lordo, and others.

Indeed, the next step is Akinci, now that he has a Majority, not unlike Anastasiades, in their respective Legislatures, there is this possibility, that Cypriots, not "Greeks", not "Turks", hold the Agenda in the negotiations to follow.

...indeed, i do not forget the angry phone call, and i remind Mr. Akinci, that while Mr. Erdogan has trotted himself out as a "President" he was not worthy of receiving an invitation to his daughter's wedding. I am hoping Akinci has bigger balls than we imagine, pushed too far, it is "Turkishness" he will resist.
