Unfortunately Lordo the situation is not like you describe. The occupied has turned out to be an endless sucker of money from Turkey hence their austerity measures on you that you didn't like and the uprising of the leftist unions. The solution is to decrease the public servants. Starting from the 3 year package from 2006-2008 of 400m per year you now reached 1 billion. What is this, where will it end?
Your leaders visit Turkey every now and then asking for more money.... when was it the last time by the end of 2014 that they asked for another 300m?
Even if the airport gets direct flights (which by what Paphitis said seems rather impossible) you will still depend heavily on Turkey unless you yourselves do something about it.

first of all the number billion is correct but a billion what. it was a billion tl. tergy and the roc have tied the tcs both hand and foot. all embargoes have to be removed. magusa and ercan have to open to international traffic. certainly there are cuts to be made at the civil service and a reduction in wages for the foreseeable future but it is not impossible. that is our problem to solve. it certainly not insolvable but with ercan closed to international trade and magusa restricted we have no chance. if embargoes are not lifted then erdogan remains in control and we shall have the roc to thank for that. when it comes to the airplane waiter he is talking out of his arse as per usual. if gatsulides says there is a formula he should know. have some faith. until you jump in to the water you really cannot learn to swim just reading figures in a book.

I don't fuckin think so. First of all, you offer nothing (zero) because even Varosha will be under UN control. So what incentive do the GCs have to return back there and invest the billions required to rebuild the city when they don't even have control over there city?

Yeh "nice" offer but NO THANKS!

So what you are offering is NOTHING for complete RECOGNITION.

you see that was makarios's idiology too. we have varosa what else have you got to offer. i got news for you asshole you aint havin varosa any other way and you aint havin peace any other way too. now lets see anastasiades refuse akinci's request and we shall take it from there.

i have a funny feeling gatsullides has an idea a deal can be done. i dont give a shit how it is done so long it is done. tcs need it and asap to remove the terggish strangle hold. if you boys dont want to play ball then to hell with you and your federation.

as to the aize of debt just being able to claim proper tax from the casinos would cover the debt without reducing the civil service, there is also resources premium to be considered if there is peace. however there is no in streamlining and efficientising the civil service.

So there we have it folks. These Turkish criminals are just interested in blackmailing us over Varosha!

What kind of peace do you think is possible with these terrorists?

I got news for you arsehole! You will never achieve recognition, free trade or anything else for that matter.

nope nobody blackmailing you for anything. truth hurts. just wait a while to see if anastasiades refuses akincis offer. and then we will talk. anstasiades could not wait to meet akinci. he offered a meeting for saturday and told the world about it. i am afraid terggy pays the bills at the moment and given the circumstances the sultan will get the first choice.

you really are thick no to see that both sides have done exactly the same regarding property with one slight difference. tcs are allowed to sell theirs. that has no effect on the original owners. after 40 years the original owners will have no right to return automatically in any case. eu thankfully has ruled on that. most people will either accept tc property in the south or get compensation or both.

having said that, i say let all those who wish to move to the north do so even if it means a tc has to move for the 4th time. those gcs who have the balls to live in the north should be allowed to.

No it definitely is blackmail. Typical Turkish recalcitrance.

You just want it all on your terms with nothing in it for us.

No GC in their right mind will live in the "north" boot camp under the boots of the Turkish Army.

Ok lordo you have valid points, it seems to me we are on the verge of embeding partition or the ROC having to take super bold measures without even been sure we will have Akinci to talk with in the near future.
Anyways.
Please give us more info on the matter of taxing the casinos, how's the situation now, can't you tax them, who do they have behind to avoid taxation?

NB.The amounts I mentioned before are in US $ not TL.

We have no idea how much they take. We need cameras at every transaction to count with officers in the casinos to supervise. I am certain the casino taxes would cover the money. GCs from the south and particularly the rich Turks from turkey get fleeced there every weekend.

I would also make the whore houses legal and tax them too. I would make sure there is nobody forced to work there but those who choose to work do so in a healthy way and proper taxes are collected. after all it is the oldest profession.

I will look into how much US dollars it is likely to bring. I will get back with some info.

some time ago BRT was constantly making a loss. then all of a sudden it was streamlined and began to make profit again. i dont know what the state of play is now but we have proved it can make a profit.

Now matter if it is illegal or legal, prostitution will always attract the most vulnerable girls who can't get any work or have a drug addiction and what not. May not be the case for all but it seems to attract the most vulnerable.

You can keep that on your criminal side. GCs have the smarts to succeed in legitimate socially acceptable businesses and these types of things are not in their nature with the exception of some corrupt Cypriot politicians.
