Ahem: The text accompanying that photograph reads:
“Turkey is a democratic secular state, a law ban veil in universities, actual government tried to change this law and didn't succeed
about half of the Turkish women wear veil but colorful ones looking more like fashion accessories
in touristic Istanbul, they were a lot of women in burka but they were tourists, not locals”
http://forum.mflenses.com/turkey-trip-w ... 51171.htmlIn other words, the author was perceptive and knowledgeable enough to realise that these women were not Turkish, but visitors from a conservative Muslim country (although I think it is possible that they are from a very conservative part of central Anatalolia).
I my opinion, women should be free to dress in any socially acceptable way they please. If they, of their own free will, wish to engage in an extreme form of Islamic veiling, this is their prerogative.
