You will find that in other countries, people are in it for themselves, especially those who have money or money and power. The only difference is that they are touchable in those countries. It does not mean that scandals or corruption does not occur. Perhaps Cyprus being such a small country means there is a much greater impact.

But the vast majority, do in fact have ideals and morals, it's just that it is very difficult to stick your head out and do something about it. Stick your head out, and they will chop it off not just in Cyprus but in other countries too.

Mustafajerku's post was vitriolic and insulting to Cypriots altogether. Firstly, the DNA of TCs and GCs is pretty much identical. They are both the same as opposed to mainland Greeks and Turks. If he states that the nature of GCs is cold (can't be further from the truth), then the TCs are equally so. If GCs are "ugly" and "hairy" then so too are the TCs.

Generally speaking, Cypriots are a warm loving people. This is the consensus from all from all the foreigners who visit, not mine. Much more warm and friendly than the Brits or Western Europeans are. Not saying they are not warm people either, just a little different, a bit more harsh or cold, but also a little more circumspect and also quite polite.

The only thing true about Greeks is a certain "lack of comradeship". Greeks always fight among themselves. There is little unity or teamwork as opposed to other people.

But yes, it's very difficult to not be touched negatively if you go through major turmoils like war or being forcibly unsurped and cleansed from your roots.
