Akinci

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Here you go Pyro, even TC politicians are admitting that they are Turkey’s puppets!

"With Akıncı, the demand for change has won in northern Cyprus, but as Birikim Özgür, a leading Turkish Cypriot left-wing politician has said, “To achieve change, changing the tenant of the presidential mansion is not enough.” What will happen to relations with Ankara? Will Akıncı be able to conduct a policy separate from Ankara in the Cyprus talks process? Can he indeed bypass Ankara and without coordinating with the Turkish Foreign Ministry Cyprus Desk, offer anything tangible to Greek Cypriots?

This will be a very difficult road to walk for Akıncı."

The entire situation is very simple.

They have elected a new Leader, and with that comes some renewed hope. But it's early days so we will need to wait and see what power Akinci will have if any at all.

The ball is still in their court not ours!

We withdrew from the negotiations because Turkey was violating our EEZ and started some exploration in our northern waters as well as some intransigence regarding 2 States, 2 peoples.

The RoC has NEVER denied that the TCs have a share in the Gas but only as citizens of the RoC. To reap these fruits, there would have to be a solution and they will then reap the rewards as equal citizens. At the moment they can't have it both ways. They can't enjoy the fruits of stolen lands at the expense of the GCs and then make demands on the RoC concerning Gas whilst they help Turkey to occupy these lands. That is simple logic!

So all we can do is sit back and wait for Akinci to make the first move. Any positive steps from him will be welcomed,

if for instance Akinci is able to break the deadlock, then in order to achieve a solution, they will need to get a majority vote at the next referendum from the GCs. For this to occur, then the next plan will have to be vastly much better and fairer than the Annan Plan which was rejected by a vast majority. The GCs rejected Annan because it was unfair.

What does Turkey want from Cyprus? What do the Turkish Cypriots want from Cyprus? What do the Greek Cypriots want from Cyprus? Answer these questions and you may see how a solution could evolve.

Turkey wants a giant military base to defend itself from Greece

The GCs want their homes and country back

The TCs want to keep the stolen properties they have amassed and need Turkey to do so.

So, I don't see any solution any time soon, since the problem is Turkey and there is no one to remove her. Simple.

what does Turkey want from Cyprus? A Turkish colony that is either recognized legally as independent or which politically controls the whole of the island.

What do the Turkish Cypriots want? theft, apartheid but most probably extinction if not complete assimilation with Turkey.

What do the Greek Cypriots want? An end to the occupation, their country and property back and freedom from the Tyrants in the north.

Sotos wrote:Pyrpolizer, if you could have Cyprus ANY way you want it, how would it be? Would it be a BBF? BBF is a COMPROMISE, isn't it? Now Pyrpolizer tell me: WHY are we making this compromise? Isn't it because of the Turkish Army and Turkey. If Turkey would take its army off Cyprus and declare that it doesn't give a damn about Cyprus and the TCs, what would happen next? How much negotiating power would TCs have? And would there be negotiations at all? Republic of Cyprus has every right to defend its territory ... it can't defend it from Turkey because we are too weak... but if it was just TCs then we could take back our land very easily. What TCs deserve is to be a minority like all other. The ONLY reason that they can get more than what they deserve is the Turkish Army. NOTHING else. So are you really so stupid to believe that the TCs will want to lose the ONLY reason that they get more land, power etc than what they truly deserve? Of course no ... this is why they insist on Turkish guarantees. It is a service they WANT to buy so they can maintain whatever was taken from us which they do not deserve. And for this service provided by Turkey the return will be to serve the Turkish interests in Cyprus as they have ALWAYS done.

It's called balance of power. If it were in our hands we would throw them all in the sea, because of the poison we 've been fed from the church and the schools. We have enough barbarians amongst us who wouldn't hesitate a second to take the life of another human being just because he speaks Turkish. (let aside stealing their lands and properties-see we are not much different on the average). Mind you if it weren't the Tcs we would attack the Maronites, go back in the 60s and watch how the Maronites were marginalized. It was only AFTER 1974 that they started employing them en masse in the Government, just to show off as the good boys to their minorities.
Imo a Federal structure is the BEST solution, because we are not socially mature as a people. Our mentality is backwards in almost everything.

In other words Sotos the BBF is REQUIRED not only to protect the Tcs but to protect us from the few among us who would love to hurt them. The majority of us are and were always nice people, it's the barbarians among us that I am afraid of. And of course the barbarians among the Tcs themselves.
