Why, oh why is the world depriving the Greeks of their creations?
It won't increase tourism GIG. The primary interest of tourists is not to visit museums...
The ancient Greeks had an advanced civilization alright, but i don't see any way we would ever be "such as before".
Imo all civilizations no one excluded, were externally guided. Today's civilization included.
You advocate evolution. Would you agree that the ancient Greeks should have had double the IQ of the "barbarians?
Well, what happened to it?
These monuments that belong back in Greece and Cyprus will bring with them more than simply tourists. Investment-generating conferences are held in many establishments that currently hold these relics. Huge study grants are allocated by the EU and various foundations to muse over Greek arts. We could have great Arts foundations that bring in students from all over the world.
But, the fact they
do, indisputably, bring in tourists as well, is well established - it's one of the
prime reasons the British Museum claims it should hang on to the Marbles, for instance. Tourists go to the UK to see the Greek historical artifacts and end up shopping in Harrods etc. Amazing investment centers around all the areas where the arts are exhibited.
And, why should the Greeks have had double the IQ of barbarians? Humans use very little of their brain as it is. IQ is nothing but a measure of what you do with what
others have formulated/created. Having a high IQ and possessing the ability to invent/create/philosophize/fight or construct does not correlate. Maybe those who stole our inheritance have higher IQs. So what? They drool over what others have made. Rats outnumber men.
Besides, these creations inspire youth. Maybe our youth needs a reminder of what their forefathers have done, so that they can equalise or better them. How inspiring is it to our young folk to see everyone stealing what we have? It tells them we can never hang on to what is ours. Not a good message.
Leaving them in the hands of others also allows these others to revise and rewrite our history. It helps them keep hold.
Many reasons.
