I dont go to church Tim, unless it is for a Christening, a wedding, a funeral or maybe for Easter.

I dont listen to sermons, or a preacher or do religious studies but I am the son of God. I am that.

Not too sure about the geographical accuracy of the above statement but, I have read that the faith of Islam is the fastest growing religion on the face of the earth, (therefore it is not necessarily true that religion is in permanent decline).

Perhaps your comment is specific to Christianity alone and if it is, I can well appreciate the decline considering the recent scandals and exposures of those churchmen in high office. (not necessary to go into detail, children may be among us).

Tony Blair (as I understand it) embraced the Roman Catholic faith, that alone should have been worth a few million disillusionments when the "Good Lord" failed to strike him dumb (or struck him with lightning) when he took "Holy Communion".

I believe that Incorrect interpretation is a major culprit in the decline of Christian belief and there are so many "Offshoots" from the main "Tree of Knowledge" that it is hardly surprising that so many people have become non-believers, Churches have become "Mashugana Houses" and unfortunately the downward spiral of moral standards (noticeable in our culture) is the result of it.

No!
a)Religion together with b) Science and c) Social bond are the 3 pillars that make what we call Civilization or culture. They all get generated from basic human fears. Religion itself derives from fear of death . Science from the fear of nature... These 3 pillars of civilization interact and inter-influence each other. When Science declines we may have a huge increase of Religion hence end up to theocratic states. When religion is suppressed we may end up to communism i.e When Science thrives both the other 2 pillars of civilization decline and we may end up to either total capitalism or if the Social pillar thrives equally then to the Scandinavian Social system.

The actual reason Christianity declines is because the majority of Christian nations have advanced too much in Science and probably in social bond as well, that they don't need much of a religion to form a solid Civilization anymore.

And the reason why Islam seemingly grows is the exact opposite. It grows there where at least one of the other 2 elements of Civilization be it Science or social bond or both collapsed or stayed behind other Technologically advanced Nations. The fear from death now becomes fear for their own existence and having nothing else to sustain their Civilisation they turn to Religion.

NB. When I say it "grows" I don't mean in numbers. And I doubt any religion today "grows" concerning the numbers of their "believers"

Who was that prophet who was raised to heaven? Ezekiil I think? Just post them the part of the bible describing his ascent to heaven. If that won't shake them nothing will.

Nothing will shake the indoctrinated of course, but it is amusing to try from time to time, and they don't have the inquisition to fall back on any more!

religion, specifically, Christianity derived from Jesus Christ.

If Jesus Christ was alive today, he would be a self help guru or some sort of life coach.

Wrong again. It derived from Apostle Paul. It should be called Paulism.

is there any verse in the bible to encourage moses to kill somebody.

i always thought that bible taught us to turn the other cheek if one is slapped. is this not the case. have i been wrong all these years.

See Lordo we are brave enough to question our own supposed "religion"
I haven't heard a single word from you after Paphitis' enlightening post for your supposed "religion"

Didn't you say that it derived from fear of death? Therefor it should be called fearism.
