I dont go to church Tim, unless it is for a Christening, a wedding, a funeral or maybe for Easter.
I dont listen to sermons, or a preacher or do religious studies but I am the son of God. I am that.

I think religion is in permanent decline in all Western Countries around the globe, including Cyprus.
Not too sure about the geographical accuracy of the above statement but, I have read that the faith of Islam is the fastest growing religion on the face of the earth, (therefore it is not necessarily true that religion is in permanent decline).
Perhaps your comment is specific to Christianity alone and if it is, I can well appreciate the decline considering the recent scandals and exposures of those churchmen in high office. (not necessary to go into detail, children may be among us).
Tony Blair (as I understand it) embraced the Roman Catholic faith, that alone should have been worth a few million disillusionments when the "Good Lord" failed to strike him dumb (or struck him with lightning) when he took "Holy Communion".
I believe that Incorrect interpretation is a major culprit in the decline of Christian belief and there are so many "Offshoots" from the main "Tree of Knowledge" that it is hardly surprising that so many people have become non-believers, Churches have become "Mashugana Houses" and unfortunately the downward spiral of moral standards (noticeable in our culture) is the result of it.

@ Tim:
I told them many times in this forum we are an army of slaves yet nobody ever paid any attention.
Who was that prophet who was raised to heaven? Ezekiil I think? Just post them the part of the bible describing his ascent to heaven. If that won't shake them nothing will.
Nothing will shake the indoctrinated of course, but it is amusing to try from time to time, and they don't have the inquisition to fall back on any more!
religion, specifically, Christianity derived from Jesus Christ.
If Jesus Christ was alive today, he would be a self help guru or some sort of life coach.

Wrong again. It derived from Apostle Paul. It should be called Paulism.
