If it is not a new house and the lines are there it shouldn't take that long.

http://www.cyta.com.cy/ is the telecom in Cyprus. You can find info and phone numbers there.

Anything from 2 days to 2 years (a neighbour actually had to wait 3 years). Mobile coverage is reasonable in most places

devil, I assume your neighbor needed lines to be installed at his home and thats why he waited that long. Getting the number is just a matter of some days.

It all depends where the house is, whether there are lines to that area, etc.

If it is in town then there should be a very short time to wait - normally a week or do depending on the workload. If you are going to live where there are no lines then it is understandable that you will have to wit until it is economically feasible fro CYTA to have lines there - no where will run a line just for you.

Pop in to one of the Customer Service offices of CYTA - that would be the best place to go and not over the phone.

AFAIR, in U.S. they have a federal law which obliges telecom carriers to provide service anywhere in the territory covered by their license or they may find their license revoked.
A bit tough for telecoms but that's one of the reasons why U.S. are #1 in telecom. (well maybe Japan or S.Korea is #1 I'm not sure ;) )
