Iraqi government forces have retaken a large part of north-western Tikrit as they battle IS militants to recapture the city, security officials say.

Soldiers and Shia militiamen have reportedly raised the Iraqi flag at a hospital in the Qadisiya district, two-thirds of which is under their control.

But they have so far not made much progress in Tikrit's south and west.

Latest reports are that Tikrit will be liberated and fully under Iraq's Control within the next 24 hours.

Question is, how long for the regroup and resupply before they advance all the way to Mosul. Maybe some additional training from Coalition Forces before that one goes ahead.

But it seems the Coalition's approach is very methodical.

There may be no great rush. It seems they have a couple of hundred DAESH diehards cornered in the centre of Tikrit. Better to starve them out than waste valuable human life on combating these zealots. Apparently, by taking Tikrit, they will cut lines of communication between DAESH HQ and Mosul. I think we are approaching a turning point and DAESH will be history by the end of the year. Once this genocidal movement is on the wane, it will lose its glamour for the misguided volunteers in its ranks.

Hydra is a mythical creature with seven or nine heads, which was killed by Hercules in the second of the twelve labors. The Hydra was immortal. It lived in the area Lerna - mire located south of Argos - from where it took its name. According to legend, when Heracles cut off one head, two came out. Only burning with fire was able to stop it.

Where are the 'savage' blood thirsty head chopping Christians?
Surely the Atheists must've uncovered some insane Pastor ordering non Christian beheadings

The 'vacuum' in Bosnia and Serbia after the 'Christian' UN bombings...
Surely some Orthodox Serb nutjobs are growing their beards and declaring a Christian 'Jihad' against the lawless West and Muslims.
Surely some radical Christian group in Nigeria is emerging to combat the Boko Harlet.

No great rush. And I agree, there is little point in getting anyone killed.

I fear that the ISF is very fragile. Only a few months ago, they would abandon their weapons and run. So it's a case of one step at a time.

They will need to cut off the escaping zealots from Tikrit who will probably be on their way to Mosul. Don't want to be fighting the same cutthroats there in a few months time.

Some will probably try to make the mad dash to Syria. Great target practice for the coalition.
