Iraqi government forces have retaken a large part of north-western Tikrit as they battle IS militants to recapture the city, security officials say.

Soldiers and Shia militiamen have reportedly raised the Iraqi flag at a hospital in the Qadisiya district, two-thirds of which is under their control.

But they have so far not made much progress in Tikrit's south and west.

The Iraqi army aided by Shiite militia, Iran as well as the western alliance will crush ISIS.
The ugly head of revenge will take over, then some other force will taker from those that took over, until another group develops who takes over from the victors, then another and another and another. I once posted that in a thousand years the volatility that engulfs the ME causing death and destruction will still be around. For as long as the ME is driven on by an ideology which is not compatible with civilization the killings will continue and increase, one reason why only a dictator can bring some order in these wretched regions. A dictator who, like Sadam, will eliminate who he likes. Part of life for more than 1500 years.
