Iraq's Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has said the country plans to "liberate" the eastern province of Anbar from Islamic State (IS).

"Our next... battle will be here in the land of Anbar to completely liberate it," his office quoted him as saying.

Military sources say Iraqi troops are fighting IS east of the regional capital Ramadi.

Government forces recaptured Tikrit from IS last week after it fell to the jihadist militants in June.

Mr Abadi said in a post on his official Facebook page (in Arabic): "We will prevail in Anbar as we prevailed in Tikrit."

I look forward to seeing Anbar liberated from the murderous bandits.

Turkey and Saudi Arabia, two nations with a long history of rivalry, are in high-level talks with the goal of forming a military alliance to oust Syrian President Bashar Assad, according to sources familiar with the discussions.

Iraqi security forces battling Islamic State (IS) militants have retaken key areas in the western city of Ramadi, including a hospital, officials say.

Militants based inside the hospital blew themselves up when they ran out of ammunition, an official said.

Anybody care to explain why these bandits preferred to commit suicide, a sin that (in the world view they are supposed to be fighting and committing genocide for) will condemn them to an eternity in Hell, when they had the opportunity to wait for the Iraqi army to kill them, die as martyrs and go to the highest level of Paradise with 72 virgins?

There is no doubt that committing suicide is a forbidden act and one of the major sins. Allaah The Exalted warns the person who commits suicide that He will be tortured in the Hereafter.

Do these genocidal bandits not believe their own ideology?

It seems that DAESH is calling on people in Syria to volunteer to go to Anbar in Iraq as reinforcements in its battle with the Iraqi army there. A sign that the tide there is turning against them.

Hear, hear - as long as this does not create a foothold for Islamofascist Iran.

Unfortunately Tim the entire ME suffers from an inherited virus that has a habit to mutate, Iran is not the only islamofascist entity in the ME.

The prospects for the entire region, severely infected by this virus, are not promising to say the least.

There is good news from Nigeria this morning. Same fight, another part of the world. I prefer to remain optimistic and believe that long term humanity is on a progressive path and that violent religious fundamentalism is in its final but brutal death throes.

Nigeria has freed another 234 women and children from the Sambisa forest, considered a bastion of armed group Boko Haram, the military has said.

The defence headquarters said in a statement on social media website Twitter on Friday that the hostages were rescued on Thursday in the Kawuri and Konduga end of the forest located in the country's north east neighbouring Chad.

The army released the first photos of what it said were some of the hundreds of women and children that troops freed earlier this week in the Sambisa Forest amid heavy combat with Boko Haram.

The continual march of science and progress will not eradicate this desease called religion and for as long as their guiding force is religion the continuation of strife and misery will advance.
