Like I said… take just ONE million and let’s see them form a team for like 50 different sports to compete with the rest of the world!

Australians have diversity in Sport because it is part of their culture - even the extreme thrill sports which are quite insane to the average cypriot.

You will find they would be proportionately as successful which will still place them as the best in the world! 8)

There is a much bigger issue here than just Cricket.

firstly, Afghanistan has just achieved what Cyprus has never achieved and never will achieve.

You see, Afghans are an open minded people, who dare to dream and all this success after being ravaged by the Talibani medieval Mindset. Cypriots are not like that unfortunately.

Cyprus on the other hand, is the only EU country other than Greece to not have a National Carrier. Yes, even Cyprus comes top at certain things, just not the right things. And to think we had Get Real and DT tell us on this forum that Cyprus was going to open a new Cyprus Airways. DT even went as far to say that his good mate told him so and he was the man responsible for shutting it down so he should know. Recently, the same dingbat came out to say that foreign companies have now taken over all CA routes. I do wonder if DT called his mate (the dingbat) to tell him he is full of shit!

Afghanistan will be watched by a global audience of 2 Billion.

Oh well, there is always the Tavli World cup!

My God I got it!

I think I have found something Cypriots might excell at! 8)

I am going to call it the:

How to crucify and overcook Souvla meat and destroy your barbecue!

Needless to say, the Aussies will start off as serious underdogs in this context with Cyprus being the bookies favourite!

After, we can have the Who Can sink the most tinnies Olympics.

Sorry, but Australia is favourite in this one hands down!

It's the same with World Cup Soccer.

70% of the TV market is actually India and China. It is not Europe or South America that's for sure.

Just look at the stats.

BTW, Cricket is pretty huge worldwide. It is actually pretty close to Soccer and is the second most popular sport in the world. One day games are a lot more exciting and fun than a scoreless soccer match too.

Here is an interesting statistic. The Australian A League is watched by 100 million people each week. So who watches? Well about 1% Australia and the rest is Asia, and Germany apparently. A League games are telecast each week into Germany because the German Bundeslige own a couple of the franchises and Bundeige players actually loaned to their affiliate teams in Australia, similar to Manchester City who own Melbourne City. Hence you have 36 million euro Manchester City signing play for Melbourne City (Spanish International David Villa).

TV Rights are worth 100 million per season.
