Gavel to the head in Erdocracy

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Gavel to the head in Erdocracy

Postby Nikitas » Wed Feb 18, 2015 6:19 pm

A serious punch up broke out in the Turkish parliament today, 18 Feb 2015, over the law to increase police powers.

The bill increases police powers to arrest, monitor and eavesdrop without judicial warrants. The discussion heated up to the point that ruling AKP members of parliament engaged in punchups with opposition members. Two AKP MPs gto hold of the speaker's gavel (little ceremonial hammer) and injured their opponents.

This is democracy Erdo style. Presumably that is how he envisages our upper house under a turko-BBF. Our national anthem might be the song "If I had a Hammer".

Erdo, asked to comment on the fracas, said "this law must be voted soon and enforced even sooner".

Oh..... and bad news boys, just five deputies were injured.

From Zaman...

"... Four CHP deputies -- Aykut Erdoğdu, Musa Çam, Refik Eryılmaz and Mahmut Tanal -- and a deputy from the pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party (HDP), Ertuğrul Kürkçü, were wounded by members of the ruling party in the brawl in Parliament.

Erdoğdu was hit in the chest with the Parliament's speaker's gavel, while Çam was hospitalized for fainting. Çam, who was pictured lying on the floor, spent Wednesday recovering in hospital.

Erdoğdu and the HDP's Kürkçü, who was bleeding from the head after being hit by a Justice and Development Party (AK Party) deputy, were treated in Parliament's infirmary. ..."

A taste of things to come in the European Parliament if Turkey ever becomes a member!
