European Parliament Condemns Turkey...

Postby bill cobbett » Thu Feb 12, 2015 8:29 pm

From today...

The European Parliament has condemned Turkey for the disgusting digging up and movement of the remains of the Missing at sites in the area of Occupied Ornithi, and further calls on Turkey to cough-up the compensation payments awarded by the ECHR last year.

"... Mass graves in the occupied part of Cyprus (Ornithi village)

Parliament condemns the “relocation” that took place in Ornithi - where four burial sites were disinterred, two of which were the sites of mass graves and evidence suggests these graves had been previously exhumed and the remains of 71 missing civilians intentionally removed - as "a great disrespect to the missing persons and a gross violation of the rights of their families to finally know the real conditions of the deaths of their loved ones".

MEPs call for the immediate and complete verification of the fate of the missing persons and urge the Turkish government "to immediately cease removal of the remains from the mass graves and to comply with international law, international humanitarian law and the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) judgments" and "to fully implement its obligation following the decision of the ECHR to compensate the families of the missing persons".

The resolution was passed by 543 votes, to 43, with 62 abstentions. ..."

Bill, yet more hot air from the EU which Turkey will completely ignore.

Turkey gets slapped with a 93€million bill for its occupation of the north and Turkey just ignores it. When will Turley EVER be made to pay for what she has done in Cyprus? This is how TOOTHLESS the EU and ECHR is. Pointless beurocratic nonsnese.

Denktash years ago stated clearly that the missing had been killed by TC irregulars, obviously to cover the Turkish army. There is no issue about any "evidence" once the crime is admitted. This is a PR disaster inspired by some brainless Turkish buraucrat.

If the background was not so tragic it could be exploited for its comic dimensions, but I will not go there.

As for the value of this vote, Mikkie above is spot on, it means nothing when no serious sanctions are attached.

Well, follow the condemnation with F sanctions you useless tw*ts.

I just hate these F hypocrites, they were quick to sanction Russia, I mean WTF is the Ukraine to the EU??? Unlike their member state of Cyprus and yet all we hear is useless F words. To hell with the EU/ECHR/UN all corrupt and not fit for purpose.
