I judge CNG by their actual record, which has caused nothing else than disasters (coup, Mari), lots of waste of money and time and absolutely nothing positive.

Your constant comparison of today's NG with the NG of 1974 is laughable. In 1974 they had nothing to fight with and their size was laughable too.

I already gave the example of Strovilia, where Turkey expanded its occupation to include it in 2000. And lets not forget the S-300 scandal, where the Cypriot tax payers paid many millions to buy the missiles but we couldn't bring them to Cyprus because it was prohibited to us by Turkey.

If not that excuse then they would find another. The timing was right for the Turks, that's all. This was not the first time they tried.

But, I agree that we only need a core CNG as part of the larger EU forces. Also, since we are not in NATO, we have to maintain strong links with Russia. If NATO wants to woo Cyprus and the EU, in the future, is has to remove rogue states like Turkey.

What do you think Strovillia is? They are 2-3 abandoned and dilapidated mud houses in the green line next to the Turkish camp which they conveniently moved to, and you make it sound like Attilla 2!

I have been on this forum for almost 9 years, I have lasted this long despite having been banned more than once, and having to deal with a few psychos, GR for one.

Atheist, you are wrong about the need of the CNG, we need a strong national guard, even if not entirely sufficient.

We also need powerful and influential allies. The USA, Israel, Russia and any other powerful nation, Britain excluded, we need to appreciate that change of power is already happening in our region, lets get closer to the USA, NATO and Israe.
