Lets say you wronged somebody and then you followed your own beliefs to a stage that you believe that your God forgave you. But that somebody that you wronged did not forgive you. Are you forgiven? I'd say No. You essentially just forgave yourself though your own God to make yourself feel better and get rid of the guild, but since the person you harmed has not forgiven you then you are not actually forgiven.
What you seem to be describing is the average Orthodox Christian who is misled by their church into believing that through simple prayer they can get forgiveness but they are wrong!
And what I’m describing is how it *should* be done according to the bible because I studied all the theory for 7 years back in the 90s so I know what’s expected of a true Christian… in which case having satisfied the repentance part God will “remind” the person to go back and put things right and may also arrange for the two people to bump into each other just for this reason.
