Irrelevant. :P

God or no-God. Religion or no-religion. WHY do you care ?

If it was something scientific, factual or unalterable, fine, make a fuss - but atheists are a modern joke and IF Cyprus grouped you in the "wrong" way - that is what you deserve, no? You are not even sure yourself what you are ...

Are you not an Atheist? I believe you have stated once in your non belief of "God".

You also said your Son is an Atheist. so why would you say that Atheists are a joke apart from the spineless so called "Atheist" in this thread? :?

Your parents run all the way to Australia and you are calling me spineless?

You a bigger pussy than "Get Real". At least they just run to the south part of Cyprus.

Nobody soused me you silly cow ;)

A few Cypriots like me are needed for change and progress, otherwise the mentality of people on this island would remain an Ottoman one, where religion is used to control the masses and corruption reigns supreme.

My parents didn't run away from anything Atheist.

My father was one of the pioneering Cypriot migrants to arrive in Australia in the early 50s. He learned the English language from scratch and even served in the Australian Army as a Chef during the Vietnam War. After that, a renowned Restaurateur and even owned Race Horses.

he was the first Cypriot to break this Australian Institution as conservative as it was and still is. He was also born overseas and a migrant, so that would have been as hard as being an Aboriginal back then.

He went back to Cyprus to and got married there in the early seventies.

I am sure that if you were in Australia, and got drafted for Vietnam, you would have been as spineless as ever and tried to find a way out of it like the leech and liability you are. Of course, you would have been a danger to everyone else so thankfully that is not the case.

"pioneering Cypriot migrants"? Now that's an euphemism!!

That he got drafted for Vietnam just shows that he was an uneducated peasant that was used as a pawn. Intelligent people use their brains to make their own decisions, they don't just blindly follow orders. Just like those soldiers who made the coup in Cyprus, the westerners invading Vietnam was a criminal action and your father's participation as a Chef, feeding the foreign invaders, is nothing to be proud about.

It just goes to show that he adopted a new country and secondly he was drafted by ballot and if you don't go you better have a good reason for it.

It was compulsory. The only way out was to be assessed medically unfit or have mental issues, which would not be a problem for someone like you.

And someone with half a brain would never put down Cypriots or their country. A bit of constructive criticism is good, but you have called Cypriots cowards, and just about everything else so you should be ashamed.

I am replying in kind, since you choose to go the personal attack route instead of just concentrating on the topic.

I do not believe that Cypriots are cowards and I do not think Cypriots are brave. Cypriots are just normal people and cannot be compared with fanatics such as ISIS or Taliban. Neither me nor you are like that, so give it a rest and stop trying to present yourself as being more brave than I am.

What I am saying is just the fact that Cyprus cannot defeat Turkey in a war. The difference in power is just too vast. Instead of accepting this fact you burry your head in the sand and claim that you are brave and powerful. If you were that brave and powerful then why is Cyprus still occupied? Bravery and power are things that are shown with actions not written in forums ;)

There is nothing personal about what I say so don't take it as such.

Your posts are for everyone to see and self explanatory. Don't blame me for your lack of values and your confusion in this thread.

Blind obedience in any authority is not a value that I want to have. Making claims online of having super powers is not a value either.

What I value is realism and I try to always evaluate situations objectively.

If you can't be realistic and can't evaluate situations objectively then you are doomed to make costly mistakes and unfortunately in Cyprus we have done many such costly mistakes in the past.

God is bad, the military is bad, Cyprus is bad, everything is bad… except for the rotten apple who calls himself “Atheist”.

What a loser!

Dogmatic attempts to cipher opinion on such major aspects and ignoring the empirical approach are symptomatic of those who discard one belief system for another. Common between the religious and the a-religious. At most, atheism is a transitory description of a temporal feeling, as are doubt and certainty, happy or sad - all belong on a scale and where you rank can vary, moment to moment - Jesus knew that better than most, didn't he. Stoical questioning should remain as our only constant, don't you think?

Bullshit

Oh, good answer, Atheist (or should that be atheist?) :P

Whilst I agree with you that Cyprus on its own can not defeat Turkey, I remind you that those of us who emigrated from Cyprus, like Paphitis father, did NOT run away. Its a stupid cliché used by many and its extremely infuriating. You should offer an apology to Paphitis.
