Airline industry has many fluctuations that can cause the company into a tailspin which some are not able to recover from, therefore, it is a very difficult industry to manage, specially a very small company like Cyprus Airways. Swissair went belly up about 10 years ago for the same reasons. Lufthansa came in and cleaned up the mess and made Swiss a daughter company and doing well. Many major airlines went out of business in the last 25 years or so and since then, many major airlines have consolidated to remain in the business. Most blame de-regulation for all this mess, but in a free market (capitalism), anything goes. In any case, most of the Cyprus Airways pilots will get jobs elsewhere, no problem, but it won't be so easy for the flight attendants and the ground crew. Wish them all the best for the future.

Rubbish! You don't know anything about this initiative because it hasn't been announced yet so be quiet!
