We already know you're not!

The French however are and will not cower!

The way a country recovers after such an event is very telling.

The spirit of free thinking, free inquiry and free expression that has made the West great will not be stifled as easily as some think. No return to the Midle Ages, no return to the inquisition!

You know how to Google (so do I), but have you bothered to follow any of those links? If you had, you would, for example, have seen the following:

I wrote then that the best response “for those offended or upset would have been to peacefully protest, or to satirize the Charlie Hebdo publication, or to do as most have done and simply ignore it.”

i.e. that person is not advocating the extrajudicial killing of people you disagree with.

Iranian president condemns terrorism

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani condemned the terrorist attacks in Paris and insisted that Islam is a religion of peace Saturday.

"We condemn all forms of terrorism, no matter whether in Lebanon or Palestine or in Paris and the US," Ruhani said on his official website.

Terrorist attacks by radical Muslims will only inflame others and promote Islamophobia in the world, he said.

"The Prophet Mohammed was always about justice, never about revenge," Rouhani said.

Instead of the violence he had always called the Society for prudence and forgiveness.

Seventeen people were killed in France by suspected Islamist terrorists, including 12 in an attack on the editorial offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

Is Iran softening?

I think relations with Iran could normalize before too long.

It's very sad that this subgroup of Muslims cannot laugh or express healthy emotions. Somewhere along the line, they have missed the Enlightenment (the reflections of Greeks) that Europe rediscovered.

- Mosques should start handing hand out copies of Voltaire's Candide.

The fact they can kill, and do, proves Voltaire's point that there can then be no god to worship...

If we cow in, this is where it will lead:

A Saudi Arabian blogger has been publicly flogged after being convicted of cybercrime and insulting Islam, reports say.

Raif Badawi, who was sentenced to 1,000 lashes and 10 years in jail, was flogged 50 times. The flogging will be carried out weekly, campaigners say.
Mr Badawi, the co-founder of a now banned website called the Liberal Saudi Network, was arrested in 2012.

Rights groups condemned his conviction and the US appealed for clemency.

On Thursday state department spokeswoman Jen Psaki urged the Saudi authorities to "cancel this brutal punishment" and to review his case.
In addition to his sentence, Mr Badawi was ordered to pay a fine of 1 million riyals ($266,000; £175,000).

In 2013 he was cleared of apostasy, which could have carried a death sentence.

Last year Mr Badawi's lawyer was sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found guilty of a range of offences in an anti-terrorism court, the Associated Press news agency reported.
