After gunmen in Paris killed 12 people, Saudi Arabia's top body of Muslim clerics quickly condemned the attack and said it could have no acceptable justification. It was a signal from some of the Islamic world's strictest voices that cartoons lampooning the Prophet Muhammad in the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo were not a reason to kill the artists.

It's not the Imams giving mixed messages or interpretations of Islamic Law.

They are very absolute about their condemnation of the murders and make it well known that these actions have no place under Islam.

Maybe now you get it! The real martyrs are the cartoonists - those who stand by continuing to practice freedom of speech. It's tough; it looks stupid, but it's the only way to be human.

Look, I’m tired of uneducated fools playing the “freedom of speech” card because that’s NOT the case!

There are (1) Blasphemy laws, (2) Hate Speech laws, and (3) Freedom of Speech Restrictions to which I have posted links but some of you are obviously refusing to read so this is getting very tiring!

You keep ignoring my comments about this. If you respect French law, then Charlie Hebdo was prosecuted and found in the French courts do be doing nothing that breaks French law. Satire is not hate speech. You either respect French law or you don't - if you don't, this is your prerogative, but you then lose the right to harp on about it.

The French authorities had been foolishly turning a blind eye to their laws because Charlie was being sued by Muslims but later when the Jews sued them the two-faced French government swiftly introduced the anti-Semitic law!

You hate the fact that in future this publisher will think twice before being so blatantly rude to us theists and that’s what eats you inside because you hate us!

All religions are Man’s attempts to get closer to God so they all mean well.

Christians and Muslims believe in the ONE universal God (monotheistic) and that’s one of the reasons why I have no animosity towards Muslims.

Religiously, we’re striving for the same thing. We are both trying to get closer to God albeit using different methodologies and some things we do better than them while other things they do better than us… but we both make plenty of mistakes along the way and we know that.

For me Muslims are BROTHERS not enemies; what Muhammad did or did not do in 600AD is not for me to analyze or judge 1500 years later! I respect him as much as I respect Jesus and wouldn’t have a problem praying together with a Muslim. It doesn’t worry me.

2. I genuinely believe that religion is a curse on all humanity and look forward to the day when we are rid of it. I refuse to be gagged from saying this, or to see others so gagged. Others are equally free to proselytise in support of their religions.
