A Saudi Arabian blogger has been publicly flogged after being convicted of cybercrime and insulting Islam, reports say.

Raif Badawi, who was sentenced to 1,000 lashes and 10 years in jail, was flogged 50 times. The flogging will be carried out weekly, campaigners say.
Mr Badawi, the co-founder of a now banned website called the Liberal Saudi Network, was arrested in 2012.

Rights groups condemned his conviction and the US appealed for clemency.

On Thursday state department spokeswoman Jen Psaki urged the Saudi authorities to "cancel this brutal punishment" and to review his case.
In addition to his sentence, Mr Badawi was ordered to pay a fine of 1 million riyals ($266,000; £175,000).

In 2013 he was cleared of apostasy, which could have carried a death sentence.

Last year Mr Badawi's lawyer was sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found guilty of a range of offences in an anti-terrorism court, the Associated Press news agency reported.

Yep ... and who helped to finance the current Islamist regime into power.

A quote from another of your articles above that you obviously found by Googling “Je ne suis pas Charlie” (How many do you think I could find if I Googled that without the 'pas''?), but couldn’t even be bothered to read:

“Let it be plainly said for anyone who might mistake an impatience for righteous idealism with an endorsement of violence: shooting people is terrible.”

No, that author does not agree with your support for extrajudicial killing, either. Sorry

Similarly, from another of the articles you have provided links to:

“Let me make it clear that I unequivocally condemn the murders of these ten citizens and the two police officers heroically attempting to protect them.”

Most of these articles begin with a condemnation of the killings as expected but the bulk of each of these articles go on to express the publisher’s stupidity and why they had it coming with their rude, tasteless, and insulting garbage.

Exactly what I’ve been saying all along!

Later, I also discovered that several countries had sued these guys in the past; including Jews, for their offensive publishing and there were a variety of settlements and outcomes.

Anyways, good riddance to really bad rubbish!

I hope the EU cracks down on all such provocateurs to restore harmony as much as possible.

Being provocative is not a crime ... let alone a crime punishable by death! What most people support when they say "I am Charlie Hebdo" is free speech and not necessarily the views of the particular newspaper. For example GR... in this forum you keep offending the ethnicity of the majority of the population of Cyprus by saying nonsense and lies. Is what you are doing a crime? Should those whom you offend kill you? Should Cyprus crack down on provocateurs like you? :?

Our arguments about the origins of Greeks and Cypriots; which are always conducted in a civilized manner, are totally irrelevant to this thread and you shouldn’t have brought them here!

It seems that some of you are either BLIND or not following the news and therefore plain ignorant!

As we speak the religious cauldron is boiling hot worldwide (especially in Europe) and about to blow the lid off!

All over Europe mosques and churches are being attacked in a tit for tat exchange and all this is due to the West’s constant attacks on Arab/Muslim countries and their racist stance at home fueling the public!

In fact, I have never seen such openly irresponsible behavior by so called “civilized” politicians in all my years on this planet!

To constantly poke at 2.2 billion people worldwide (Muslims) is a recipe for global disaster and responsible adults should NOT participate in any of this but condemn it!

If we fail and the racist provocateurs get their way, all hell is gonna break loose in Europe and everyone will lose! Trust me.
