My first experience on my own in 69...

Postby miltiades » Thu Dec 25, 2014 10:25 am

Born in 1946, a quick calculation reveals that this Christmas is my 69th. A unique experience since I shall be spending my 69th Xmas on my own, not out of choice but dictated by circumstances. I'm spending this Xmas at my sons house, cooking a small turkey for my self, well actually I will have company, my dog who shall be given his Xmas dinner of turkey too.

Over the last number of years I have always shared my Xmas day with family and friends, mostly in Cyprus or Belarus with my other third who will be joining me in Cyprus on January 3rd.

Taking my dog for a walk last evening I passed by a Methodist, quaint looking , small church, I have seen it many times but last evening I decided to attend the Xmas service later today, not out of a spiritual need but just to be around some people and satisfy my curiosity.

Although a confirmed non believer I have always participated in cultural festivities along with family and friends.

I have been given a couple of reds for ...company and will be enjoying both today.

Tomorrow the sales are one and I have reserved on line a Toshiba laptop, 15.6" at the reduced price of £179.99, about 225 euros, my grand daughter anxiously awaiting my arrival in Cyprus on Jan 1st.
Have a great Xmas !

Hey Yannis if I had known you could have come to our place for the day. My wife has just read your post and she reckons that a dog is better company than most humans anyway. Enjoy your Turkey and the red, happy Christmas.

Thank you Jerry and my very best Christmas wishes to you all. I had a few invites but I must stay at my sons house which is in Coulsdon, as they are both away someone has to look after the dog !!

Getting ready to make my acquaintance at the Methodist church up the road !!

Had my second bath of the year, the first was on my birthday, old age habits, I just hate baths, shaved, put my suit on and my favourite cravat and off I trotted to the Methodist church just up the road looking like ....konte repanakis

Well HE must have known I was going because the door was firmly ...closed. Not what I would have expected on this very traditional Christian date.

A quick search on google revealed that because the congregation is very small, 39 in all, the service is carried out at a bigger church in Coulsdon .

Back now enjoying my gorgeous Red , a Lussac St Emilion, ...turgggey in the oven and I cant wait.
