BIG FUCK YOU to Putana - it's basically saying, "have your money back because you're not getting the ships!"
There was no apology at all, and no refund either.
vive la France!
Well, Russia is saying they are going to file for compensation and sue France if they do not fulfill their contractual obligation.
The fine or compensation is potentially worth multi-billion dollars.
The EU has made a right dogs diner out of their relationship with Russia and we (the EU) will end up paying for it too.
Russia can do what they like, but you will also find that within any Defence Contract, a Nation State has the right to cancel the contract without fulfilling any obligations should relations between the 2 States deteriorate for any reason leading to possible military conflict and so forth.
Usually these contracts are very detailed, and in them, it will have France's Rights as the supplier of weapons and what it can do.
Bottom line is, France does not have to deliver the Ships, and is allowed to withhold them and also without paying any compensation whatsoever. It can also retain all monies if its intent is to eventually deliver the Ships after Russia complies with International Laws and norms vis a vis Ukraine.
You don't expect a NATO country to supply Russia with arms even though potentially NATO could find itself at war with Russia do you?
Well, if you replace Russia with Turkey, that's exactly what NATO is doing, so why different with Russia. As if Russia needs NATO weapons. Actually I was surprised she even placed an order with them. Probably just to have a laugh and reverse engineer them.
Er... that doesn't make sense.
Let me spell it out to you. France is a NATO country. Russia has invaded Ukraine, a NATO candidate. This is a direct provocation. Hence, tensions between Russia and NATO are at an all time high.
Therefore, France cancels Russian Defence Contract. Pretty simple!
Turkey is also a NATO member, as is Greece. Turkey has invaded Cyprus in 1974, which is a non NATO member.
NATO has turned a blind eye, more or less, as has the EU and the rest of the world.
Yes I agree that NATO and the EU should be doing a lot more (limited sanctions) to hold Turkey accountable to its criminal behavior just like they are doing with Russia, but unfortunately that has not been the case.
An antagonistic attitude towards the powers that control NATO is not helpful either because they just think we are idiots and will continue to turn a blind eye, along with the EU which is even worse since Cyprus is a member State of the EU.
